Helena Bonham Carter

Whatsup people,
After thinking hard, well... not so hard, I have decided to talk about an actress that I just love.
Her name is Helena Bonham Carter, yes, it is her, Tim Burton’s wife.
Everyone probably knows her from Alice, even though she looks very different, but I have seen her for the first time on Harry Potter’s movie, when she played Belatrix Lestrange, very well by the way. Another famous and good one was Sweet Todd with Johnny Depp directed by Tim Burton.
I confess that I don’t know much about her life because I think she is not so polemic as many others, but I will try to lear a little about it.
Helena was Born on May the 26th (1966) in London, douther of a banker, Raymond Bonham Carter and a pshychoterapist, Elena. Her fisrt work as an actress was in the movie named a Pattern of Roses in 1983, pretty old hum? Yeah, just to let you know, she is 43 now but she is turning 44 twenty days after me (which it is not an important information)...well, continuing, between this first movie and the last (released), Alice, she also was member of the cast in many other famous films like: Big Fish 2003, which was a surprise for me because I haven’t notice her when I saw this movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2005 (remake), Terminator Salvation 2009, Planet of Apes 2001 (she was a monkey), the ones that I mentioned before and others that I haven’t seen yet. She dubbed a few ones too: Corpse Bridge (Tim Burton) and some Wallace & Gromit animations.
She married Tim Burton in a year that I couldn’t be able to find and had two children with him Billy and Nell Burton. They have a stable relashinship.
Talking about her acting, she is a peculiar actress that plays very well indeed, but what I liked about her most it is her ‘morbid’ acting and costumes that are very present on Sweeney Todd and Harry Potter, in wich you can see the sweet and hilarious side of her dark way. You will understand if you watch these movies.
Ah, Helena was nomitade for the Oscar of Best Actress in Leading Role with “The Wing of the Dove” 1997 that I confess I don’t know, but unfortunately she didn’t win. By the way, in this nomination was Kate Winslet for Titanic, nevetheless the winner was Helen Hunt for ‘As Good As It Gets’.
Finally I want to say that every movie that I have seen from her, she adds an special thing that makes you like her, I don’t know what is for you, but for me can be her  strange apeal image with her british accent, but for you can be different...=)

Well, I am terrible to write biographies since I have never written any, but that is it...

Here is a vídeo of Helena playing Mr. Lovett from Sweeny Todd (Musical):

Synopsis

Jenny (Carey Mulligan) a very bright girl on the cusp of her 17th birthday, finds herself in a whirlwind romance with the much older David (Peter Sarsgaard). Prior to meeting him, Jenny was working hard at secondary school to ensure getting to Oxford University. When she sees the lifestyle David can provide, one she never imagined could be hers, she's hooked and thoughts of Oxford are forgotten. Then, when things are looking pretty good for Jenny with the dashing (yet a little too smooth) David, the truth hits her like a ton of bricks. Jenny goes from being a bright eyed school girl and a sophisticated young lady, all the way back to questioning if she really knows who she is at all. 'An Education' won the Audience Choice award and the Cinematography award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Summary

In the early 1960's, sixteen year old Jenny Mellor lives with her parents in the London suburb of Twickenham. On her father's wishes, everything that Jenny does is in the sole pursuit of being accepted into Oxford, as he wants her to have a better life than he. Jenny is bright, pretty, hard working but also naturally gifted. The only problems her father may perceive in her life is her issue with learning Latin, and her dating a boy named Graham, who is nice but socially awkward. Jenny's life changes after she meets David Goldman, a man over twice her age. David goes out of his way to show Jenny and her family that his interest in her is not improper and that he wants solely to expose her to cultural activities which she enjoys. Jenny quickly gets accustomed to the life to which David and his constant companions, Danny and Helen, have shown her, and Jenny and David's relationship does move into becoming a romantic one. However, Jenny slowly learns more about David, and by association Danny and Helen, and specifically how they make their money. Jenny has to decide if what she learns about them and leading such a life is worth forgoing her plans of higher education at Oxford.

Hachiko - A Dog's Tale

Hachiko is a true story of friendship, loyalty and the unconditional love that dogs have for men.

Hachi has waited for his master at the train station since he was a puppy until his death, even though his master died nine years before him.
I, myself, know the size of this love!I was sick and worried about my sickness. I woke up at night afraid of being worse and afraid of going to the hospital and who has been there with her deep brown eyes watching me and licking my face and hand? My darling dog -Milk.
For these reasons, this movie made me feel so sad and so happy, but it is unforgettable for those who love dogs!!!!!

As melhores coisas do mundo

It has been a long time now (Thank God and the sponsors) since Brazilian movies have started to be respected both nationally and around the globe and have also made Hollywood jealous of our talented directors. Pictures like City of God (Cidade de Deus), Central Station (Central do Brasil) and also the blockbuster The Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite) are, to name just a few, samples of what has been making us (even) prouder of being Brazilians.
Last Saturday I decided to reminisce my teen days and watch As melhores coisas do mundo, from Lais Bodanzky, the same director of Chega de Saudade and Bicho de sete cabecas. I usually like her movies, even though - I have to confess - I was apprehensive about this one. I was afraid I would have to face something extremely superficial or Malhação-like. To my (good) surprise, the fabulous director turned an apparently shallow story - which could be considered really similar to those that we've been watching for TEN (10) years in Malhação, I'm afraid - into one that caters for all age groups: from the youngest to the eldest.
While I was queuing waiting to go into the movies, I could see an audience extremely different from what I had expected: a bunch of teens with their families, young couples, children, the traditionally noisy teenagers and also some elders - which made me happy indeed. I had previously thought I was actually bound to watch an "improper" movie for my age group, if you know what I mean. I was wrong, though.
Being a teenager sucks most of the time - sorry for my honesty - but it is certainly part of our development into more experienced human beings. While watching Mano's dilemmas - the main character of the movie - I could see myself some 12 years ago and, believe me, I was relieved by the fact I'm not a teen anymore. Surrounded by so many endless doubts and problems, I don't know how we actually manage to go through such phase of life so (maybe almost) harmlessly. Mano and his friends are really happy, for sure. A bit shallow, I would dare to say. That's part of the process of getting mature, I reckon. You can see them drinking, thinking about sex all the time, smoking, telling jokes, trying to kiss as many girls as they can and - of course - mistreating the ones they judge "different" from them. Mano is a nice boy, don't get me wrong. He's 15. Most of you, readers, have been there before. So we understand every little thing the boy and his clan have to deal with. Sympathy in the best feeling to describe what we feel as the story unveils and takes place in the wild streets of Sao Paulo.
The best of the plot is showing how an apparently happy life can turn upside down when we have to face REAL issues. That's what happens to Mano and his family. From that point on, we see a boy learning how to deal with (in)differences, true and also unreliable friends, love, sex, disappointments and the value of having a nice family around. Telling you more than this would spoil the whole thing. I can assure you you'll enjoy the movie. You'll remember your adolescent moments and laugh/cry/curse/feel sorry as the movie goes on...
I have to admit I fell in love with the main character, Mano. Both character and actor are incredible. If I were 15, I guess I'd like to have a boyfriend exactly like him. He's nice, polite and also loves music. Pay attention to his devotion to music and his attempts of playing the guitar - it's really cute. And if you love The Beatles as much as I do, well, anyway, watch the movie... I'm sure you'll understand me. You might shed some tears, perhaps, as I did.
There are also many good actors such as Denise Fraga, who plays the main character's mother, Caio Blat, as the Physics teacher, Paulo Vilhena, as the guitar instructor and the newest teen sensation, Fiuk (Fabio Jr's son and also a sight for very sore eyes). Francisco Miguez, who plays Mano, and Gabriela Rocha, who plays Carol, are, undoubtedly, the best feature of the movie.
Whether you like teen stories or not, this picture has a lot to give. It is about life itself and how growing up can be - sometimes - hard and painful. The greatest thing is to know that, somehow, life always seems to find the best way to work things out. As the main character himself states “It's not impossible to be happy after you grow up. It's just more complicated". If you do not agree, cast the first stone.

Cheers,

Teacher Hell

Charlie behind Charlie

I confess it was difficult to choose a person to talk about. Johnny Depp, please forgive me, but...

Carlos Estevez, well-known as Charlie Sheen, is a very polemic guy. He was born in New York, son of a great actor, Martin Sheen. Performing in many comedies, He also has been involved with drugs, prostitutes and gambling.
Always appearing on the news related with alcohol, dumping wifes, domestic violence or gathering bunches of prostitutes in a hotel room. The last of him was being abcent in the two last episodes recordings of his sitcom because he was in the rehab for alcoholic coma. And if you see, Charlie Harper, his character in the sitcom, isn't so different from this. But why so many people, as me, like him so much? Let's try to elaborate an answer!
From far, he is the funniest actor of all these new series. In his serie, he has the best job, the one that he doesn't work very often; he wear the funniest suits and also makes the best jokes. Despite those bad aspects, if you look on the bright side, he recognizes all of them. What makes him honest and that's his saving grace!
His ‘filmography’, is very expanded, but, I haven't seen most of the films. There are the classics ‘Scary Movie’, ‘Wall Street’, ‘Hot Shots’, ‘Platoon’, etc. However, his great shoot was on ‘Two And A Half Men’, where he became the best payed actor of series in the world.
I’m a big fan of him and I guess a great deal of you is too! So, let’s pray for Charlie getting better soon for recording the missing episodes! Here is my delivery and one funny video from Charlie! See ya!

Cheers, The Motoboy.

Like a rolling stone...

Acquiring a second language is definitely not an easy task: only the brave ones will be able to endure, breathe deeply and succeed. No matter what your reasons for learning a new language are, we all have to accept the fact that miracles do not happen. Jesus was able to multiply the fish; Magicians can do some nice tricks and perform wonderful stunts: we, English teachers, unfortunately, do not have any kind of power whatsover... The message here is clear and simple: there's no free lunch (reading between the lines: YOU have to do your best to develop your language skills since we won't be able to learn for yourselves). So - you might be thinking - what can we do, Wise Teacher, in order to improve our English? The answer my friend, as Bob Dylan would say, is NOT blowing in the wind. It is straightforward: practice. How? Whenever you have the opportunity. Internet, movies, music, Tv shows, books, magazines, whatever!!! Embrace the world and run for your lives!!!

I've always enjoyed reading. I strongly believe we can learn a lot about life (not only languages) when we engage into such activity. Books, magazines, articles, poems, newspapers: lots of options, don't you think???

My tip for the day is about reading. In English (obviously).

Rolling Stone is an American magazine whose main purpose is to discuss music, politics and popular culture. Unlike many of you, experts in music, might have thought, the magazine was neither named after the famous British band The Rolling Stones nor is related to Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone... It was named after a Muddy Waters' song (homonymous, as you might have expected). By the way, have you ever heard of Muddy Waters??? If not, shame on you!!! (I strongly suggest having a look at his songs on youtube!)

The first RS issue dates from 1967 and it depicts John Lennon on its cover: a hell of a start, if you ask me. RS used to be a very political magazine, specially considering what was happening in the States at that time: Vietnam war, hippies, Cold War and many other controversial facts which have changed the history of our planet. Impossible not to write about them, right? Specially if you were a journalist immersed in such environment.

During the 90's, the editors were forced to change the focus of the mag for business reasons (money, money, money!!!): the political roots gave room to more teenage-Hollywoodian-pop topics, aiming, smartly, to attract young people and, hence, sell more issues. They were massively criticized for that, which we can understand. However, nowadays, RS seems to have found its ideal tone: a mixture of entertainment, pop culture and (of course) politics fills the pages of the mag.

More than 40 years have gone by and RS has been published in many countries all over. Since 2006, Brazil has been editing its own magazine: I myself subscribe it and recommend it (it's written in Portuguese, though!).

If you are as fond of music as I am, I reckon you'll have a wonderful time discovering how cultural and entertaining this mag can be. Read it. In Brazil, unfortunately, the American issue can have an exorbitant price (when I say "exorbitant" I'm not exaggerating, trust me!). Here's the thing: you can go to their website and check the latest news, read previous issues, have a look at the astounding pictures which RS has always been famous for and, GUESS WHAT!?!, practice your English! (I'm a teacher or have you forgotten that?)

Here's the link to their website

Learning more about the world around us and keeping updated is extremely important to become a conscious citizen. Sharpening your language skills (no matter if it's your mother tongue or a 2nd one) is also fundamental for communication and evolution. By reading, you can help the world become a better place and even if you don't make the change you'd like to, I can assure you there's no stronger power in the world than knowledge. This one, my friends, can move mountains.

Cheers,

Teacher Hell

Here's the song which inspired the founder of the mag, Jann Wanner in 1967:

Torn

It's really interesting to see how some jokes are funny only when you understand english. This video is an example of this: an interpretation of a Natalie Imbruglia's song, 'Torn'. It's worth watching! Enjoy yourselves!

El Chavo del ocho

El chavo del Ocho - as it was originally called in Mexico - or simply Chaves - as we all know here in Brazil - is a fantastic comedy show which was, is and will always be part of my life. No matter how repetitive and nonsense most of its episodes and jokes might be, nowadays, even being grown-up I can have lots of fun while watching it.

Chaves was part of my infant days. And so were many other Sbt shows. I have to admit I really like Silvio Santos and his great sense of humor. And it was this guy's idea (genius!!!) to bring this Mexican Tv Show to Brazil around 25 years ago. It could have been either a disaster or a successful attempt - people could hate it or love it. Silvio Santos decided to take a risk and the outcome of such decision we already know: Chaves is a hit!

The formula is pretty simple: join a bunch of stereotyped people together in the same neighbourhood and show their daily life. We have Chaves, the poor and naive boy; Chiquinha, the I-am-smarter-than-you girl who usually gets into trouble; Kiko, the spoiled brat; Seu Madruga, the crook. There's also the school teacher and good catch Girafales; the dedicated mother Dona Florinda, the fat kid Nhonho and many others...

What really makes Chaves special is its power to entertain people from all ages. You could be either a kid or a grandpa: the show caters to everyone's taste. Even if you know all the jokes and lines by heart, I guarantee, you'll still have a good laugh.

"El Chavo del Ocho": main characters

Last February I had the opportunity to fulfill an old dream: I visited Mexico. I've always been into Latin culture, despite being an English teacher. Traveling to Mexico, then, would be a nice way to come closer to such reality. And, my friends, if you are following my thoughts, you might have noticed that my visiting Mexico was also attached to the idea of getting to see some Chaves-related things, such as visiting the wonderful beaches of Acapulco (do you remember that episode?) and drinking "Tamarindo" juice (jugo de tamarindo, in their language).

One of the most exciting moments of my trip took place in Guadalajara, where I visited the "Wax Museum" and could take a picture with Chaves himself!!!! (ok, ok, it was a wax figure, but who cares?).

Chaves and I

If you'd like to know more about the origins of the show, check what Wikipedia has to say about it:

El Chavo del Ocho is fabulous because it makes us laugh at the most ordinary things in life: it is neither sophisticated nor intellectual, it just is. Simplicity: that's what is all about. In a world in which technology and finesse seem to rule, watching a show like this can make us rethink about some things in life. The Beatles would say that All we need is love, and I totally agree. I would add to their thought one word, though: humor. All we need is love and (good) humor. So, love and be loved. And for a good laugh, tune in Sbt, at some time, that Chaves will certainly be there - to help you ease the stress and hardness of adulthood. As it has always been doing for almost 30 years now.

Interesting books

One of the most  unmissable and exciting books I' ve read is Stieg Larsson's  Millennium Trilogy, a worldwide

publishing phenomenon.

Stieg Larsson was a Swedish writer and he died of a heart attack before seeing his huge success.

The trilogy is composed by three books - The girl with the dragon tattoo, The girl who played with fire and

The girl who kicked the Hornet's Nest - and it is about crimes, murders and unsolved mystery that involve Mikael
Blomkvist (an investigative journalist) and Lisbeth Salander( a punk hacker).

For the ones who haven't read these books yet, you can see the movie for the first book!

The Final Destination - TRASH!

“Yo”!  I'm back, and, this time, not in the mood for talking about a movie that I like, no, no, forget it right now. I'll  criticise  about one of many "trashes" that have been coming up so far. This  cinematography attempt surprisingly deceived me because I had thought that this movie would have been sort of an innovation before I got to watch it.
Well I'll stop dragging the introduction and present it:
THE FINAL DESTINATION
Basically, it is the same plot than the others “Final Destination 1,2 and 3, when somebody have a realistic vision in the local scene (and try to save some) that something terrible is about to happen and than, all of the sudden, real life comes back minutes before the accident wich kills a lot of people. This humans, that the person managed to save, start being stalked by death.
This fourth movie  is about a "humongous" accident that takes place at a car race killing all the audience.Than as I said before, someone, that in this movie is Nick (the good guy), who was there  with his girlfriend Lori and friends Hunt and Janet, has a premonition that the audience will die due to this car accident, wich  burns them and makes the stadium colapse. Just before it  happens he’d managed to save some of the people who were there. It needless to say that in the aftermath, the catastropher really ends up killing the ones who stayed at the stadium and didn't leave with Nick ( poor people ) .                                                      Following the “patter” of the Final Destination’s stories, death starts to follow each one of them in the exact order that they was supposed to have died.
I can’t tell more about it because then, I would be spoiling it.
First of all, a critic that does not regard the movie itself but the brazilian producers who did not made it with the original sound. Yes, it was dubbed and made the actors sound very, I mean very fake, transforming the moving into a trash horror one.
Well, the Final Destination series should have ended on its third movie, because the plot as I said it is the same for everyone and especially on this one, it became cliche, without the tension comparing with the others. Secondly,  there were some “death scenes” very false: fake blood, fake deaths, fake reactions and many other fake things, like when Hunt died by the suction of the pool, in a REALLY stupid way. Finally, it was too short, we barely get used with the cinema chair and then it is over. You leave the movies thinking, "what a waste of money and time".
Oh! I was almost forgeting, the "innovation" thing was that the movie was in 3D, a horror movie in 3D, perheps that is why they have put Portuguese audio. Before anybody contest me about the "horror 3D type" I know that there have been a few horrors in 3D like "My Bloody Valentine" etc., etc..

This is NOT the trailer, but since I didn't like the movie, I loved this ironic version:
Right, right, here is the ORIGINAL trailer: WARNING, THE TRAILER LOOKS GOOD!
HAHAHAHAH
So, that was my contribution for the week or for the month or for...whatevar, :D if you are going to watch the movie make sure to pay very little money ;)

A walk to Remember

The film is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. The movie stars are Mandy Moore and Shane West. The movie was directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Denise Dinovi and Hunt Lowry by Warner Bros.
When Landon Carter, who is the main character of the movie, very popular, starts having bad grades in the school, he is threatened with expulsion. As a punishment he has to do many activities after school, as tutoring disabled children and performing in the drama club's spring musical. With this, the boy has to interact with Jamie Elizabeth Sullivan (Mandy Moore), who he has known for many years but has never spoken with her. She is very different from him, she is not popular. Landon has difficulty with the text for the musical and asks Jamie to assist him. She decides to help him with one condition, he must not fall in love with her. He accepts and she helps him. As they spend more time together, a friendship begins to develop and Carter “starts to” fall in love. She starts too. But there is a secret , a problem and when he know this, he starts to fulfill all her dreams and they live together for a short time, but with a love for all life.
Jamie Sullivan is a person who does not dress well, but is pretty. She sings charmingly and is intelligent. Carter is popular, handsome and rebellious.

The movie takes place in North Carolina, USA.
It is a beautiful love story, exciting, affecting and amazing, surprising.
I liked it very much. It is a story that makes us fell better, with stir emotions, get in the movie. When we think that all the things are very “perfect", the problems begin and we want solutions. The way that things happen is so calm, pure, beautiful. Makes we want a love like their love.
I recommend for all people who want a love emotion, a “water with sugar” story. People who believe in true love for all life, in certain way.

The Caveman's Valentine (2001)

When I saw the DVD cover on a shelf in my ex's house, I thought it was an awesome film! I am a big fan of Samuel L. Jackson and I really enjoy his films, but this one, my friends... is TOTALLY CRAP! For you to have an idea, I googled it for reading about, because I watched kind of four years ago, and I didn't find anything on wikipedia...
But anyway, the story - which is so poor - happens in New York, where Samuel L. Jackson (I don't remember the name of the character) is an esquizofrenic bum and also a musician - see how interesting -. Once upon a time, his friend, who was a bum too, was killed, and the police experts said that the guy died because of a cold. However, Samuel haven't believed and, so, decided to investigate the crime by himself.
This is such an idiot film that doesn't even deserve a writing about it. I lost, I think, ten minutes of my precious time writing about this bullshit. Therefore, if you ever rent a film because of the cast or the protagonist, take care... it can be a ''shoot on the hand''!
So, here is my delivery of this week. And sincerely, do not watch the trailler!

Cheers, The Motoboy!

The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain

This is a French movie that tells a story about a girl that worries a lot about helping people and changing their lives for better, doing things that make them realize about what is important to be happy. Unfortunately, by doing this, she forgets about herself, becoming a closed girl, but also very sensitive towards simple things of life. In the end, she realized she never had a true luve.

Twilight Saga: New Moon

The whole Twilight Saga is a cliché. However, the saga is a phenomenon over the world. It's a story about a girl who falls in love with a boy. The boy has a touch of mistery and in the middle of the movie you find out that he is a vampire.
That was the first movie, the second is good but not better than the first. The end of New Moon didn't please anyone, it was kind of vague. Dispite the strange ending, it is a good movie. You should see, and soon.

Durch die strassen der Kolonie IX

It isn’t a German language post, but the title is an original name to an annual event organized by Dois Irmãos City Hall, and means “By the ways of the colony IX”. For those who like eco-activities, it is a really good option. Last weekend I participated by there, and the registration for two hundred people was full in just ten days.
We left Dois Irmãos on Saturday morning (09:00 AM), and arrived in Nova Petrópolis on  Sunday, at 01:00 PM. We slept in Pinhal Alto, and had dinner and breakfast there. There was a truck which took our things (pillows, air-mattress, blanket…), over there a support car and ambulance all the way.
Much of the way was route on dirt road, with lot’s of trees and stream. Beautiful landscape complete the scenario.
To return, some buses were available. But if someone wanted to return to Dois Irmãos walking, no problems! (nobody did it… hehe).
     Some more information:
How much? R$ 30,00, includes T-shirt, dinner, breakfast, water and fruits. Transport to return cost more R$ 10,00.
     How far? 46 Km
For how long? A day and half

Flashmob in Porto Alegre

Flashmob (FROM WIKIPEDIA) is a large group of people assembled suddenly, in a public place, performing  an unsual act for a brief time, then quickly dispersed and it is arranged by e-mails.

On 28 September 2009, the biggest Flashmob occurred in Chicago. The Black Eyes Peas singing "I gotta feeling" contamined with their electrifying song the whole people who watched Oprah's program. In the beginning, there were 800 ballet-dancers, suddenly it changed, there were 21000 dancers.

Last Saturday, there was a Flashmob here at Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, round 100 people, it was
called Flashmob Macarena 2.0, it was a great success!

What's Flashmob for ordinary people?
Flashmob is a meeting, a multidiversity meeting! If you look on the right, you will see an odd guy, if you looked on the left, you could see a ballet-dancer, in front of you anyone who dances much better or worse than you and in your back probably your best friend.
Flash Mob is an ode to joy and cheerfulness, an ode to dance and to be free and easy!!!
So, next time  Go, Enjoy and Dance a lot!

Cheers!

Something

Do you know the story behind this outstanding song?

Happy Ending

Do you know this guy's "sound"?

Mika is a fantastic British singer.
Check out one of his songs.

Across the Universe

I still remember as if it were yesterday: I had just arrived at the cinema and was waiting for some movie to begin. It was 2007 and I was still living in the remote country of Ireland. Do not ask me which movie it was, my memory cannot recall that. Suddenly, the previews started. There was this guy - extremely cute, btw - sitting on the sand singing "Girl", from the British band "The Beatles". I just looked at my friend who was there with me and I guess we both had the same thought: "What movie is this?" As the preview went on, we realized it was a kind of a psychedelic musical using The Beatles' songs to tell a beautiful hippie-peace-and-love story. We were thrilled.
I watched "Across the Universe" in September, in that very same year. I do not even have to tell you that I've just LOVED this movie, even though I'm not really into musicals.
Whether your're a Beatlemaniac or not, I'm sure you'll enjoy this picture. It is about the 60's, there's lot of History in it and interesting facts going on there. And, most important of all, there's a Beatle song for each and every moment. :D
Listen to the soundtrack, watch the movie. Do not miss this opportunity.
I'm pretty sure you'll fall in love with the story, the characters and, if you're into good-looking British guys, you'll definitely wish you could get to know the actor Jim Sturgess personally... Oh, well...
Here's the preview

Juno

What do you know about this film?

Here's the video of one of the most beautiful (and simplest) scenes I've ever watched in a movie...

Great song

Here's a band I really admire. Even though I'm really into rock, heavy metal isn't my favorite style. This band is awesome, though. And "Enter Sandman" expresses how great and talented these musicians are.

Don´t you agree with me???

"Two and a half men" is an American Tv Show. Charlie is a middle-aged man. He is very funny and easy-going. He has a brother and a nephew. They are a very crazy family. I like this show because it is very funny and positive. I recommend watching it.

Ke$ha

Ke$ha is a singer. She's from USA. She has a cd called "Animal". I like her because she is crazy and gorgeous. My favorite song is "Tik Tok". She is a new singer. Her first cd is the best and also very popular. The singer is kind, short, athletic and fit. She isn't quiet, sensitive and shy, because of this I love her.

House

"House" or "Doctor Gregory" is an American Tv show, which won 2 Emmies and gave actor Hugh Laurie the Golden Globe award. House talks about doctor Gregory House, a rude doctor, and his routine in a hospital. He saves a lot of people who are very sick. In a few cases, the the patients die, but in most of the cases, House does the diagnostics and saves the patient's life.
House is in its 6th season. The doctor deals with a lot of problems (in his life and in the hospital). In the beginning of the 5th season, House falls in love with Doctor Lisa Cuddy, but he can't express his feelins and in the current season she starts dating Lucas, and this affects House.

I love House because it is cery interesting, with a lot of importante information and a good plot. I recommend it because you can know a lot about diseases and how you can get sick or get better.

Requiem For A Dream (2000)

Hi folks!

So... I've decided to talk about a film that teached me a lot! The film is called 'Requiem For A Dream'. I think most of you haven't even heard about it, but, is one of the best films I've ever seen!

The film's subject is focused in the drug addicted's diseases. The story passes in Brooklin streets, where Harry, his friend Tyrone and his girlfriend Marion are really addicted to all the types of illegal drugs. In other way, Harry's mother is keen on television shows, and once she had been invited to take part in one. However, her old red dress does not fits on her anymore, so she has to enter on a diet to get thiner. Disapointed with the diet results, she went to the doctor, who gave her some pills for breaking the hungry. While Sara gets addicted to her pills, Harry and his friend start drug dealing. They make money easyly and start to grow. Marion wants to open her so-dreamed suit shop, and Harry uses the money from the dealing to help her with the objective. However, as they use drugs, their needs for it increases quickly and they begin to use more than sell, what spends deeply theis savings. Harry and Tyrone decide to take a trip for buying cocaine in another state, where's cheaper. The diseases starts to appear in everyone's lives when Harry has a problem on his arm because of using excess of heroin. Sara, Harry's mom, is getting high repeatedly because of the pills the doctor gave her. Marion doesn't have any money for buying drugs and Harry doesn't arrive from his trip. The trouble get's worse when Harry is at the hospital and the doctor tells him that they'll amputate his arm. Tyrone was arrested in a messy situation and in the jail he is being humilhated by the police officers. Marion decides to arrange a meeting with a humangous drug dealer, and for getting drugs she has to have sex with him. And the troubles are a snow ball that is sliding down a mountain and getting bigger and bigger.

Despite not having a happy end, the film has amazing and weird images. You feel very annoyed at the end. Without lesson of moral, it passes the routine and the life decreasing of the drug addicteds with some disturbing - but also incredible - soundtrack. If you watch 'Requiem For A Dream', you get even more 'against' drugs. Is not a film that you only watch, that's a film that you feel, that you listen. Is a film that the viewer takes part in the scenes! Is not just another cult film...
Thus, that's it! If you feel interested, here is the trailer and my tip for watching!

Cheers, The Motoboy.

Hannibal-The Silence Of The Lambs (1991)

Hey there, I have just watched "Hannibal-The Silence Of The Lambs" and I must say that I loved it even though I thought was going to be a horror movie, differently than Hannibal Rising, wich I'd seen before this one, that seems to be more "heavy".
Well, summarising, "The Silence Of The Lambs" talks about an F.B.I investigator, Clarice, (I believe she was studying to be one...well, whatever) that is supposed to interrogate Hannibal Lecter (who was a very inteligent, famous and manipulative doctor) at a psychological hospital, to find out leads about a seria killer (Buffalo Bill) who've kidnapped a young lady. Lecter, meanwhile, starts to play with Clarice's mind but helping her somehow.
Oh! It is important to say that Hannibal it is arrested in this hispital due to his morbid canibal way of living (rsrs).
The great thing about this movie is the contradiction about Lecter's personality, because he is a brilliant doctor as I said before and at the same time a horrible human being we shall say so. That makes us, sometimes, like a little bit of Hannibal (not the killing part) because he happens to be funny and he's not worried about his condition.
For those who like movies that makes you head works, this is a great opportunity to entertain yourself since it involves a psychological analysis with the caracters, specially Lecter and Clarice, and it makes you, sometimes, doubt about your opinion regarding their feelings.

Just for you to see the level of the movie, check it out its awards on the Academy:
-Actor in Leading Hole (Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal)
-Actress in a Leading Role (Judie Fooster as Clarice)
-Best Director
-Best Picture (=Best Movie in Brazil)
and many others...

Well, here it is, the trailer of the move:

By the way, I loved the movie Shutter Island, that is somehow indirectly related with psychological stuffs.
Secondly, I am addicted to 24!

PS: May revise the mistakes later :D

The final day of Jack Bauer

I'm going to writte now a little bit about 24, also known as "24 Horas" here in Brazil. Have you ever seen this awesome series, starred by Kiefer Sutherland, in the role of Jack Bauer? If you are a big fan, like me, probably you're watching the season 8 too, the current season that's broadcasted by FOX on USA. The current season is famous by being situated in New York (latest seasons occured on Los Angeles and Washington D.C.). But, unfortunately for us, big fans, season 8 will be the last season of 24. It was officially cancelled last month because of high costs and low viewers ratio (A.K.A. "IBOPE").

Fortunately, the producers said that a 24 movie is on the plans, to do a "great end" for the story, and we will probably see it until next year or maybe 2012 the end of the world.
So, let's enjoy the final day of Jack Bauer and watch every single episode. A new fresh episode of 24 is broadcasted by FOX every monday evening on United States and every sunday evening by FOX Brazil (with a huge delay in comparison with the US broadcast).
